Why I’m Drawn to Urban Photography

There’s something about urban photography that just speaks to me. The mix of textures, the contrast of light and shadow, the way cities feel alive, it’s the perfect environment for storytelling.

Shooting in the city means capturing fleeting moments: a stranger crossing the street, reflections in a glass window, neon lights flickering at night. There’s always movement, always something happening. And when you shoot on film, you don’t get to review the shot instantly, you have to trust your eye, your instincts.

I think that’s why I’m drawn to blending urban photography with portraiture. There’s this raw, unfiltered beauty in people existing within these spaces, like they’re part of the city’s rhythm. It’s something I want to explore more through My Filmera.

If you’ve ever walked through a city and felt the urge to capture it, you get it. There’s a certain magic in those everyday moments, and that’s what I love about this style of photography.
